9 things you shouldn’t do on social media from your business page !

If you are a small business owner, chances are that you are already on social media. If you are not, it’s time to get things rolling. Whether your favourite medium is Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, there are things that you should avoid doing on social media.
Here are 9 things which you should NOT DO from your business profile on social media.

1.   Insult or be offensive
Nothing will ruin your brand like an offensive social media post. Avoid being racist, insulting a religion or custom, being misogynistic or homophobic or make jokes about news or current situations.

2.      Delete comments or reviews or your own comments on reviews
Not everyone is going to be your no 1 fan. If someone posts something insulting and demeaning on your own page, you will be tempted to delete it. Deleting these posts will make your business look dodgy and unreliable, and remember people can always take screenshots. Let the post be, reply with grace and dignity.

3.      Argue and defend
As much as you need to respond to your customers on social media, you shouldn’t type in a long thread of defensive replies for bad reviews. Always think! The person who will read this post, can be your next customer.

4.      Lying
We often tend to highlight positive features more in our product without talking about the ordinary. Social media engagement is different than traditional advertising, if you exaggerate or lie, your audience will lose trust and you will lose authenticity.

5.      Sharing just too much
Spamming does not involve only email, if you bombard a person’s feed with too much information on a regular basis, it will annoy them and soon unfollow your page or profile. Interesting content should be focused rather than posting regular ads frequently.

6.      Complain
Your business should never complain in public, even if it is a bad customer to a horrible vendor to an adverse weather
pattern. It will make you look bad and potential customer and vendors will think twice before doing business with you.

7.      Be little your competitors
As much as you should avoid complaining, you should avoid talking bad about your competitors. You can be civil, let the industry which you are in boost a bit and look pretty cool to all your customers.

8.      Inconsistent branding
Your logo, logo colours, tone and voice of your content should be consistent throughout and through all social media platforms.

9.      Spelling and grammar mistakes
Nothing puts your brand down like a spelling or a grammar error. Incomplete or long sentences are a big no no too. Always make sure you review, and get it approved before posting.

5 basics for a great LinkedIn profile that recruiters will love!

Competition is high, there are chances that your CV will not be even glanced at. Alternative to sending your CV to headhunters and recruiters is kinda old school. Instead, you can create a killer LinkedIn profile and get head hunters to find you. Sounds cool isn’t it? Here are few tips to get it right. 1.        Get a custom URL It is classier and easier to get a short custom URL. Ideally it should be ‘linkedin.com/your name’. A long URL with long letters and numbers is not nice or professional. Here is how to get a short URL - On the profile screen, on your right hand corner, you’ll see a grey box saying “Edit public profile & URL’’. Click on it and specify what you’d like your address to be. 2.        Fill in the profile completely The more complete it is, the more appropriate and professional it will look. Once a recruiter finds you, he or she would want to go through a completed profile. So fill out...
